Grant writing and appraisal

Grant funding can make a huge difference to a small charity or non-profit’s beneficiaries. And there are small trusts across the country ready and willing to give their money to good causes which reflect their particular interests.

But the application process can be tricky and time consuming, with no guarantee of success.

Are you a small charity without specialist in-house grant expertise?

Let me find you a grant that’s a good fit for you, and write an application that demonstrates why.

Or I can give you an unbiased opinion on how well your application meets the funder’s objectives and requirements.

Bid writing and consultancy

There’s so much to think about when writing a bid, such as:

  • What’s important to the client?
  • How do you emphasise your strength in meeting the requirements?
  • How can you confidently demonstrate competence and consistency across a multi-service, multi-region contract?
  • Can you reflect the client’s tone of voice to show empathy?
  • How do you do all this in challenging word, character or page counts?

Let me help you craft a response that ticks the right boxes, or independently review your responses and suggest any improvements.

Copywriting

Do you need a press release to announce  a new product?

Does your website clearly explain how your product or service will benefit your potential customer, and encourage them to find out more?

From adverts to menus, and articles to reports, let me help you tell your story in a way that resonates with your customers, clients or supporters.

Copyediting, proofreading and everything in between

Errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar can impact readability and make it harder to get your message across. It can even damage credibility and erode your customers’ trust. Proofreading is a final check before publication, to catch spelling or obvious grammatical errors.

Copyediting (or editing) is a more detailed review, challenging sentences that don’t make sense as well as typos.

And proofediting is somewhere in between. The option you choose can depend on the time available.

"I was very impressed with the way Louisa carried out the work - the attention to detail and corrections were excellent. Louisa has ability and commitment."

Phyllis Sigsworth, Author of A Beat from the Heart to the Heart of Power

"Louisa came highly recommended. I needed someone who could say the things I wanted to say, in my style, but with better words to make the desired impact ... When I saw her draft, I thought, 'Hey that sounds like me! But a million times better! Even I want to buy from me!' She got my style right, and she has a magical way with words."

Pei Mun Lim, Zenhao Training

"Louisa at Line 29 is so caring, patient and professional. When working on my first journal case report she took the time to learn about the subject so she could assist with the writing critique. Louisa is encouraging and got me to really focus and get the article down. With her assistance I am now published and have won an award."

Portia Wilson, Published in the British Journal of Community Nursing

"Louisa has been a tremendous help to me while writing my first novel. She has patiently read multiple drafts, spotting where I had continuity problems I had not picked up, correcting my grammar and generally helping to ensure the story flowed correctly from my head to the computer. She challenged me when my cast acted out of character, and helped me to sharpen the text that had become vague and disjointed."

Craig Macpherson, Author of Rich Man, Poor Man
